Human Resources is staffed with 30 employees.

Reporting to the Manager, Employee Development, Instructional Designer 2 positions provide comprehensive employee development training programs tailored to the unique needs of the organization. Assess training needs and design, and develop various training programs. Identify and develop entry-level and advanced-level courses, determine course needs and appropriate delivery methods, and assess and enhance the quality of training programs. Collaborate with multiple departments to develop learning solutions and execute training curricula. Perform other related duties including supporting the Human Resources department by completing various writing assignments.

The Primary Duties include: Design, develop, maintain, edit, and update instructional materials using adult learning theory that appeals to various learning styles. Define learning objectives, develop project standards, identify appropriate instructional strategies, and implement industry and corporate standards into document design. Lead and facilitate training and participate in train-the-trainer programs. Apply solid instructional design skills, effective learning principles, and creativity to course design in order to engage participants in the learning process. Define client requirements, build client relationships, and work with clients to ensure materials meet project requirements. Analyze project assignments to determine solutions, and collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to analyze, develop, implement, and evaluate appropriate solutions. Ensure timely delivery of project documents. Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Final salary will be determined in part by the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Requirements 

  1. Bachelor's degree in English, Adult Education, Instructional Design, Industrial Organization Psychology, or Technical Writing OR lieu of specified degree, any combination of education and experience may be substituted for the required degree that equals four years in technical writing or curriculum design.
  2. In addition to #1, must have a minimum of five years of instructional design or training development experience, which includes at least two years in designing learning solutions.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of current instructional theories and principles applicable to both hard copy and web-based instructional materials.
  4. Knowledge of adult learning theories.
  5. Knowledge of how to facilitate using a variety of teaching techniques.
  6. Knowledge of information architecture principles and methods.
  7. Knowledge of multi-media design tools is preferable.
  8. Advanced skill using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  9. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Strong project and time management skills.
  11. Strong interpersonal skills to creatively engage and motivate learners. 
  12. Strong human relations skills in dealing with all levels of staff, external groups/customers, and organizations.
  13. Ability to listen and analyze information, and interpret client needs.
  14. Ability to produce instructional materials.
  15. Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision. 

Preferred

  1. Experience with on-line course development.
  2. Certified Facilitator in DiSC.
  3. Facilitator Accreditation - The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team.
