Microsoft Azure Storage is a highly distributed, massively scalable, and ubiquitously accessible cloud storage platform. Azure storage already runs at Exascale (storing Exabytes of data) and we will scale our designs over the next decade to support Zetta scale (storing Zettabytes of data). Within Azure Storage, the xDPU team is focused on bringing up the storage stack on DPU (Data Processing Units) based nodes to provide unmatched performance at lowest cost. We are hiring an experienced engineer to join us in developing and deploying DPU-based storage. 

As a Principal Software Test Engineer in the Azure Storage team, you will lead the validation of highly scalable, performant services that deliver highly reliable, secure and available access to storage running on DPU nodes. As You will be involved in all phases of the storage lifecycle, design, implementation, test, deployment, and support.   • Provides technical leadership to teams to identify the scope of testing to create a quality plan across storage products. In partnership with stakeholders, creates commitments for test plans in a product to estimate the scope of work and agree on requirements. 
  • Provides technical leadership in work with partners across teams (e.g., development team) by creating test plans across multiple products through a systematic process to test and validate software products and ensure product readiness. 
  • Leads team through providing technical expertise and oversight of responsible teams and monitors high-level test plan execution and quality assurance testing to assure that testing is efficient and executed according to plans. 
  • Creates complex and wide-reaching visualizations of a high complexity for a highly complex product or multiple products by leveraging available data to identify defects across multiple products. 
  • By leveraging available data, you’ll work within multiple features or a broad/complex feature area to identify areas where additional exploration, development, or testing is required. You’ll also help build complex custom visualizations to ensure product testing coverage. 
  • Provides technical leadership on identifying where automation of test cases, build transfer, deployment, or dashboard automation best fit and where manual testing is necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 12+ years of experience with testing of storage software and coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 8+ years experience with testing of storage software and coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Python.
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience testing storage products as a lead engineer owning multiple features. 

Other Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with
  • storage performance analysis, testing tools such as fio & features including but not limited to snapshots, data compression and encryption, RAID/EC & data integrity,
  • AND coding, debugging, testing, and problem solving skills,
  • AND Windows troubleshooting.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
