The Department of Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Audio Production at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.
Excellence in teaching, research/creative activity, and service is expected. The successful candidate is expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in studio recording, mixing, and music production. The successful candidate will be able to teach in either advanced sound reinforcement or sound for picture/broadcast audio. In addition, the successful candidate will conduct research or develop creative products in their areas of specialization.
A terminal degree in recording industry, audio production, sound recording, music production, music technology, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
A master’s degree in recording industry or a closely related field with four (4) years of full-time, recording industry professional work experience or a bachelor's degree in recording industry or a closely related field with six (6) years of full-time, recording industry professional work experience will be considered in lieu of a terminal degree. To receive experience credit for full-time, freelance work, applicants must list each project, including the project's length, on their CVs.
One (1) year of professional experience in sound engineering or audio production is required.
