Your new team

We are a medium-sized, globally distributed design team headed by Benny Zuffolini, Kyrsten McCartney, Jag Rai, and Catherine Stuart, and we are dedicated to the Language Learning sector of Pearson, with its multiple product families and diverse audience. We work across UX/UI Design, UX Writing, UX Research, and Service Design.

Our team brings together diverse backgrounds, cultures, seniorities and neurotypes, which creates a dynamic environment with opportunities for growth. While we are spread across different geographies, we primarily collaborate with stakeholders in European time zones.

The UX discipline at Pearson follows simple principles: One size does not fit all, It is all about our users. Keep it simple and consistent, reuse don’t reinvent.

The skills you will need in your new role

You'll collaborate daily with product managers, researchers, engineers, and QA in an agile environment to deliver user-centric solutions. You'll take part in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and prototyping to testing and implementation ensuring accessible and seamless user experiences. The key skills required include:

  • Translating product briefs into tangible artefacts: Ability to createuser flows, wireframes, prototypes and anything that can help the cross-functional team understand the user perspective and think a few steps ahead.
  • Strong UI and interaction design skills: Ability to design both static and dynamic components to enhance user engagement and usability.
  • Responsive design skills: Experience designing responsive web layouts across various screen sizes. App design experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Design Systems: Familiarity with design systems, with the ability to contribute new components and maintain consistency across products.
  • Proficiency in Figma: Expert in using Figma for design, prototyping, and design team collaboration.
  • Ability to translate research into actionable insights: Skilled in interpreting UX research and analytics to inform and refine design solutions. Ability to usability-test your own designs.
  • Adaptability: You know how to put the product and users above your own biases and be open to feedback and iterative design processes.
  • Collaboration: You will work seamlessly with other designers and cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and marketers. A bonus would be experience of running workshops.
