Scope:

A Public Relations Manager will oversee hotel communications initiatives, specifically those involving the media. Additionally, assign tasks, writing or editing press releases before publication and organizing press conferences and other events. They will also monitor the hotel's public image, providing guidance and support to ensure that the hotel is portrayed in a positive light. They will also be responsible for responding to inquiries from the media and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting all activities related to the Hotel public relations (PR). This includes developing PR strategies, creating and executing campaigns, attending events, and networking with journalists. It also involves managing media relations and responding to press inquiries. Finally, it entails monitoring media coverage and analysing its effectiveness.
  • Ensure that all materials present a clear, unified, and positive image of the hotel and/or brand. This includes all printed materials, signage, advertising, website, and social media content. It is also important to ensure that all materials are in compliance with the brand's standards and guidelines. Finally, materials should be updated regularly to keep them current and in line with the brand's vision.
  • Arranges photography and/or press coverage of special events. Ensure that all materials are properly credited and that all legal requirements are met. Monitor and evaluate the success of the materials. Make necessary changes to materials as needed.
  • Promotes and attends special events and functions; promotes and reports on corporate milestones and activities such as hotel goals and projects; new products or services; community service activities; and upcoming hires and promotions.
  • Manages and tracks the company's annual budget for special events and activities. Coordinates with other departments and supervisors to ensure that all activities are properly planned and scheduled. Monitors and evaluates the success of events and activities.
  • Promoting Mandarin Oriental Muscat events through publicity strategies The strategy could include developing an attractive website, utilizing social media platforms, and creating promotional materials such as flyers or brochures. It could also include partnering with local businesses or organizations to reach a wider audience.
  • Developing and managing a PR plan, including budgets and timelines. Updating the Hotel website with MOMCT activities. Creating and distributing press releases and other media materials. Building relationships with local media outlets.
  • Responding appropriately to all media coverage of the hotel Monitoring media coverage and developing strategies to address any negative press. Implementing strategies to maximize the hotel's exposure in the press. Tracking the results of PR efforts.
  • Create a content calendar with the social media team Drafting press releases and blog posts. Distributing news stories to the appropriate media outlets. Monitoring and responding to customer comments on social media.
  • Representing the hotel at press conferences, interviews, etc. Identifying and nurturing relationships with key journalists and influencers. Creating and managing content for promotional campaigns. Analysing the effectiveness of social media campaigns.
  • Plan and execute publicity strategies for MOHMCT products and services, including a crisis management plan. Developing relationships with external partners, such as media outlets and influencers. Monitoring industry trends and news in order to identify potential publicity opportunities. Evaluating effectiveness of campaigns and developing strategies to improve impact.
  • Creating content to promote MOHMCT products and services. Developing presentations and other materials for media relations. Supporting social media team with content ideas.

Qualification and Skills: 

  • A college degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or hotel management is preferred.
  • Five years’ experience Marketing and PR experience, including budget evaluation, extensive written communication, management, and reporting.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
  • The ability to write, listen, and speak English with excellent proficiency. Depending on the location of the role, high proficiency in native language is required.
  • Communicates key information effectively using a variety of communication tools to all levels of management.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, budget management, project management, and time management
  • The ability to think analytically, critically, and strategically when faced with new opportunities and challenges, prioritising and identifying productive solutions.
  • A creative individual who wants to work in the hospitality sector's marketing and PR.
  • Demonstrated a high level of self-initiative and attention to detail.
  • High energy and the ability to motivate and lead a team.
  • Dedicated to customer satisfaction, resourceful, and results driven.
  • Has a strong can-do attitude and thrives on challenges. Enjoys working collaboratively and as part of a team.
  • Marketing and PR experience in the hotel industry is must.
