Job Description
Your Role & Impact
As a technical leader, you will:
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams in the design, implementation, and oversight of HV substation automation systems.
- Develop and deploy robust industrial network architectures for mission-critical energy infrastructure.
- Ensure technical excellence, safety, and compliance across all engineering phases.
- Act as a subject matter expert, mentoring colleagues and guiding stakeholders through testing, commissioning, and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Design and commission high-availability automation and network solutions (VLAN, RSTP, PRP/HSR).
- Oversee testing, troubleshooting, and validation of complex automation and communication systems.
- Ensure full compliance with technical standards, safety regulations, and contractual requirements.
Team & Project Management
- Mentor engineering’s on best practices in HV substation automation and industrial networking.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to meet project milestones on time and within budget.
- Supervise Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and final commissioning.
What You Bring
Industrial Network Expertise
- In-depth, hands-on expertise in industrial networking for substations:
- VLAN configuration and management
- RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol) design, deployment, troubleshooting
- PRP/HSR (Parallel Redundancy Protocol/High-availability Seamless Redundancy) architecture, commissioning, and fault analysis
- Track record of deploying and troubleshooting these technologies in live, operational HV substation settings.
High Voltage Automation Experience
- Direct involvement in automation for HV substations (110 kV+), including HMI/SCADA, control systems, and integration, not just protection systems.
- Experience as a lead or project engineer on complex grid automation projects.
Technical Leadership & Delivery
- Background in the energy/utilities sector, ideally with utilities, TSOs/DSOs, or EPC contractors.
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder management experience.
- Fluency in English; German is a plus.
