Your ‘day to day’

You will work as a 12 months’ fixed term contractor to support Philip Morris Electronics Shenzhen office. (PMES). PMES operates as a subsidiary of Philip Morris International, Inc. You may be required to be engaged by a 3rd party service provider to be assigned to work at PMES.

As a Senior Firmware Test Engineer, you will serve as the domain expert in software testing. Your responsibilities will include deriving detailed test requirements from high-level product feature specifications, crafting comprehensive test designs, and leading user acceptance testing through close collaboration with vendors. Additionally, you will be involved in defining test automation requirements, crafting automated tests, and ensuring product quality through the execution of both automated and manual tests. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining traceability throughout the testing process.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the leader of software quality and collaborate effectively with the team to ensure on-time product delivery with high quality, lead all aspects of the activities (both in-house and from vendors) based on defined software quality metrics, and ensure software features reach maturity during engineering development phases and prior to release for manufacturing.
  • Define and implement a long-term testing platform, automated test framework, and test case library. Collaborate with automatic test script developers to automate integration, functional, performance, and regression level test cases.
  • Define software testing processes, test documentation templates, and work closely with vendor test management.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of all test documentation, including test designs, strategies, plans, execution, and reports from both internal teams and vendors, to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Establish and maintain test environments, ensuring consistency to proper standards, whether in-house or with third-party providers.

Who we’re looking for

  • A University degree holder in Software, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience in verification and testing, preferably with Consumer Electronic products (IoT/RF/Wi-Fi/BT/Network/Security).
  • A strong curiosity about technical root cause analysis, with the ability to anticipate risks and implement effective mitigation plans during the design phase.
  • Possesses a high sense of responsibility and accountability.

The following are pre-requisite:

  • Possesses expertise in an analytical, systematic, and proactive approach to designing software testing and verification activities.
  • Familiarity with common platforms for coding and testing, such as Git, Jenkins, Jira, Test Link, and Confluence.
  • Good knowledge of some quality systems and modules (CMM, Agile, IPD, ISO, GB standards).
  • Substantial experience in leading quality performance of vendors.
  • Strong communication skills, including professional-level proficiency in written and verbal English.

The following experiences are desirable:

  • Extensive experience with programming languages such as C and Python, or other scripting languages.
  • Proficiency in development and automated test frameworks, such as Robot Framework, Gmock, Gtest, Pytest.
  • Good experience in embedded software development and verification, including familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and/or embedded Linux systems.
