ROLE SUMMARY

The Enterprise Platforms & Security (EP&S) team delivers the following capabilities for Pfizer. Business application platforms supporting Pfizer’s enterprise application and critical business processes. Infrastructure allowing business traffic to travel where it needs to go, internally and externally, along with the appropriate access controls. EP&S secures Pfizer's most important information assets through world class controls and protections and enables Pfizer's business results by making security an enabler and not a roadblock to achieving business results.

The Developer Products and Platforms (DPP) team within Business Operations and Cybersecurity Analytics (BOCA) group owns and operates common platforms that help EP&S and its customers build, deploy, and run leading-edge products on-premises and in the cloud. These platforms are the standard for the delivery of secure, integrated, scalable, and reliable products.

The Product owner has ultimate accountability for the strategy, development, lifecycle management, delivery, and efficacy for Developer Platforms, and thus will play a significant role in shaping how EP&S and Pfizer Digital consumes and utilizes these platforms. This individual is expected to work directly with practice leads and senior engineers across the team, as well as other technical and business stakeholders across the organization in a fast-paced agile environment.

This role will lead the development of specific product strategies, visions, and execution plan with a mission to deliver products that positively transform experiences for Digital consumers. The product owner will define the required measurable objectives and key results (OKRs) that ensure the delivery of products that achieve desired performance, durability, cost, and useability outcomes.

This position requires the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop, and coach others, and oversee & guide the work of colleagues and contractors to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business value.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop product or service strategies and drive backlog prioritization within the constraints and priorities set by the Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and the DPP Product Line Lead.
  • Ensure product/service success by setting critical customer, product, and business KPIs while managing the P&L of products under management.
  • Establish and manage product cost models and guidance in partnership with EP&S Finance team.
  • Set strategic vision for the products based on an understanding of customers’ goals, product line priorities, group priorities, the portfolio of products and services offered, and their evolving, underlying technologies.
  • Enable product/service squads to meet business needs by working with Practice Leads to ensure appropriate resources are available based on strategic priorities (e.g., product roadmap requirements).
  • Establish product/service team updates and roadmaps. Provide regular summaries to the Product Line Lead and BOCA Group Lead in preparation for Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and annual planning sessions.
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with other Product & Service Owners, and Practice Leads across EP&S, particularly for those areas where dependencies exist, and collaboration will be required to develop and maintain holistic product outcomes.
  • Address any systemic issues in product durability and partner with Digital Command Operations to ensure effective & efficient ongoing supportability.
  • Promote ideas and innovations by taking measured risks and articulating the vision and plan to achieve desired outcomes such as improving performance, efficacy, cost efficiency, and ease-of-use.
  • Mentor and guide colleagues in the use of products to enhance the effectiveness of digital-oriented outcomes and ultimately business goals. 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical/engineering discipline.
  • Extensive experience in an enterprise IT setting, preferably one in a highly regulated industry such as banking/financial or healthcare/pharmaceutical. 
  • Proven experience working as primary product owner for agile/scrum teams
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle many (3+) products and customers concurrently.
  • Excellent communicator, with an ability to influence horizontally and vertically across a large, complex, and matrixed organization. 
  • Strong general IT knowledge including an understanding of software development lifecycle.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Certification in product owner (CSPO)
  • Experience working within a software engineering environment as a product owner. 
  • Understanding of APIs, DevOps, cloud and automation technologies
  • Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

This role will interface regularly with other Product Line Leads along with DPP Practice Leads in the pursuit of prioritized product delivery outcomes. The role is expected to develop strong relationships outside of DPP and EP&S, including with Digital Architecture and Creation Center teams.
