The Image Data Analytics (IDA) team of the Data Science and Scientific Informatics (DSSI), Research and Development Science IT (RaDS-IT) at our Company is offering an internship opportunity. The intern will work on developing techniques for quantitative analysis of multidimensional images, with the goal of identifying key information and features in biological datasets to support drug development. This involves the application of machine learning, deep learning, data mining, image processing, and signal processing techniques to extract meaningful information.

To be eligible for this internship, candidates must be currently pursuing an MS or PhD in fields such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics. They should be available to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during the summer of 2024 and return to school in the fall upon completion of the assignment.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Candidates must be able to commit to full-time onsite (or hybrid if applicable) employment for 10 - 12 weeks beginning June 2024
  • Knowledge in mathematical algorithms in areas such as machine learning, deep learning, pattern recognition, data mining, image processing, computer vision, signal processing, bioinformatics, and statistics.
  • Research experience in biomedical image processing (such as histology-based, CT, MR, etc.) with applications in medical, healthcare, and/or pharmaceutical fields.
  • Ability to plan and schedule daily computing, research, and reporting activities to meet established timetables and objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Experience and Skills (not all required):

  • Research experience in analyzing multimodal datasets.
  • Experience in software packages such as Python, Matlab, R, C++, and Java.
  • Experience in deep learning frameworks and libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras.
  • Experience in high-performance computing, GPU computing, and Cloud computing.
  • Experience/knowledge in bioinformatics and genomics.
  • Experience with big data tools such as Hadoop and Spark.

Additional requirements:

  • International students who are pursuing a degree in an academic program and are eligible to work under Optional Practical Training (OPT) should select “no visa sponsorship needed” in the application.

Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:

$39,600.00-$105,500.00
