The Position:

We are seeking a talented researcher with expertise in both experimental and computational techniques for a joint postdoctoral position in the Department of Translational Medicine Oncology (mentor: Dr. Zhen Shi) and the Department of Oncology Bioinformatics (mentor: Dr. Xiaosai Yao) at Genentech. The candidate will utilize molecular, cellular and computational biology, along with state-of-the-art single-cell technologies, to study translational control and protein homeostasis in the context of drug resistance.

As a postdoctoral scientist, your project will focus on:

1. Investigating the rewiring of protein synthesis in the context of resistance to KRAS inhibitor treatment.

2. Exploring how trans- and cis-regulatory elements interact to coordinate mRNA translation and contribute to drug resistance.

3. Examining the consequences of protein synthesis rewiring on protein homeostasis, stress response, and the identification of new vulnerabilities in tumor cells.

The candidate will become a member of the Genentech postdoctoral training program that provides an opportunity to pursue fundamental questions related to human health. Our successful postdoctoral fellows have successfully transitioned into careers in both industry and academia.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Cancer/Molecular/Cell biology/Genetics, computational biology, or a related field
  • Strong hands-on experience in laboratory research with molecular and cellular biology techniques
  • Proficiency with analysis of high-throughput omics data
  • One or more first-author papers published or accepted in a high-quality journal
