Project Contractor

Help deliver an excellent experience for our clients!

Vanguard is one of the world's largest and most trusted investment management companies. In Europe, we are a fast-growing business with highly successful operations in UK as well as Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and France.

Our mission is to change the way the world invests. We want to help investors reach their goals, both directly and through intermediaries such as financial advisers.

This role sits within the 40-strong marketing team, based in London, and is focused on bringing the Vanguard message to all of our European clients through high-quality events.

Deliver our biggest-ever event

This role is focused on the delivery of a landmark event for our UK intermediated clients. Making full use of the interactive functionality of London’s Frameless venue and featuring a presenter line-up of Vanguard’s most senior executives, the Vanguard Advance event will have a higher profile than any we have staged before. As such, it demands faultless planning, communication, stakeholder management and delivery. This will be your sole focus until the event is successfully delivered in late June.

Thereafter, you will work on delivering a series of symposium events in a range of continental European cities during September, which will make use of some of the same content.

In this initial nine-month contract role you will:

  • Lead the strategic and tactical implementation of our landmark Vanguard Advance event in London in late June.
  • Deliver a series of investment symposium events across several other European markets in September.
  • Partner extensively with stakeholders from across the marketing and distribution teams as well as expert presenters.
  • Create and implement comprehensive event communication plans across a variety of marketing channels (email, social media, web), agreeing key messages, frequency, segmentation, journey mapping as well as tracking results and adapting plans accordingly.
  • Build registration forms and event web pages within systems including Cvent, On24 and Kaltura.
  • Regularly report on registration data and work with content and digital teams to maximise registrant numbers.
  • Manage on-the-day logistics for your key events, including registration, venue liaison, video production and speaker preparation.
  • Partner with sales and channel marketing throughout the planning process to optimise the events and ensure that all stakeholders are aligned, adjusting plans as necessary.
  • Ensure event marketing activity is compliant with global and local laws and regulations (e.g. GDPR, Anti-Bribery laws, co-marketing policies, etc.) in all relevant European countries.
  • Manage sourcing, procurement, implementation and supervision of external vendors.

To succeed, you will need:

  • A proven ability to manage complex, high-profile events and deliver the highest-quality results to senior stakeholders.
  • An understanding of what it’s like to work in a busy marketing team in the financial services sector – with all the regulatory and information security considerations this brings.
  • Experience with event platforms such as ON24, Kaltura and Cvent.
  • The ability to travel to support onsite at events across the UK and our other European markets.
  • Great relationship management skills across all levels of crew (including senior staff) and external vendors.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under scrutiny and deadline pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and establish work priorities with minimal guidance from management.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Special Factors

  • Hybrid work model
  • There be a requirement to work additional hours when required due to events
  • Vanguard is not offering sponsorship for this position.
