Job description

As IT Installation & Design Compliance Manager, you’ll ensure that providers, internal and external, deliver the contracted or agreed service levels, whilst providing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) support across the portfolio of Defence Digital (DD) delivered services, at MOD establishments in the UK and Europe.

You’ll become responsible for ensuring installation design compliance in line with legislation, policy and departmental guidance, which protects MOD data, in operational and business environments, from inadvertent emanation, possible interception and loss of service.

This position currently sits within Customer Services UK but will be transferring to the Complex Delivery team, within DD.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishing long term relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Responsible for ensuring installation design compliance in line with legislation, policy and departmental guidance.
  • Maintaining an audit programme of installed equipment to ensure continued compliance.
  • Support the DD Site Co-ordinating Installation Design Authority (SCIDA) objective in delivering a coordinated and coherent SCIDA service at the Defence Enterprise level.
  • Providing direction and guidance to projects ensuring the MOD is receiving value for money whilst adhering to regulations.

CS UK is undergoing a change programme which may affect some of the areas of responsibilities within this role.

Person specification

You’ll be given the opportunity to complete additional Co-ordinating Installation Design Authority (CIDA) courses to refresh your knowledge and we'll support you in undertaking further learning and development opportunities within your field and beyond.

We’ll enable you to provide operational support and mission assurance, with a strong, practical and convincing determination to communicate the advantages of the Defence Digital strategy but you’ll need to be self-starting, collaborative, dynamic and demonstrably ambitious, even visionary, about excellent customer service.

Please ensure that your CV and application meet the essential criteria below:

  • Recent demonstrable expertise of ICT delivery (e.g. SCIDA, installation engineer).
  • Knowledge, skills or experience in IT design compliance and IT installation
  • Experience of working in a Customer Service role, preferably within an ICT controlled installation design environment.
  • The ability to build long term relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly effective networking skills, able to negotiate and influence people.
  • Able to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, synthesising information to portray key messages and facilitate effective decision making.
  • Good problem-solving skills, including being able to demonstrate self-resilience when resolving issues.

Dependent on the business need, there may be a requirement to travel to meetings within the UK, including possible overnight stays (or potentially occasional overseas visits).

A full UK Driving Licence is essential, due to regular travel to Defence sites, many of which are remote and not easily accessible via public transport.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station which is based on business assessment of where the work is best done) and working from home as a personal choice (if the role is suitable for this). If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

If not already held, successful candidates will be required to obtain DV clearance prior to taking up employment.
