Your impact

Are you an experienced design leader ready to shape the future of transportation infrastructure in New Zealand and Australia? Jacobs is seeking a Design Manager with extensive regional experience to join our Roads & Highways team in Wellington. 

About the Role 

As a Design Manager, you'll lead our design consultancy services and provide strategic technical direction across the Wellington region, New Zealand and Australia. Working alongside Project Executives and Technical Leaders, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering complex, multi-disciplinary transport projects that make a difference to our communities. 

Our Roads and Highways team is a dynamic group of professionals working collaboratively across New Zealand and Australia, currently delivering some of the region's most significant infrastructure projects including major highway upgrades, complex interchanges, and urban mobility solutions. 

What You'll Do 

  • Lead design management on major infrastructure projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Drive project success through effective risk management, quality assurance, and digital engineering implementation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with private and public sector clients.
  • Oversee the production of high-quality engineering design deliverables.
  • Manage diverse project teams, including global resources and subcontractors.
  • Support business growth through proposal development and tender preparation.

Here's what you'll need

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in design management within the transport infrastructure sector.
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery in the Wellington/ANZ region.
  • Exceptional client relationship management skills.
  • Strong experience in Digital Engineering/BIM implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Experience in managing complex budgets and commercial outcomes.
