We are looking for Legal, Ethics and Compliance Manager. This role is based in Istanbul, Turkiye, and directly reports to Legal, Compliance and Quality Senior Director.

The position

As Legal, Ethics and Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for supporting both legal affairs of the Affiliate and Business Ethics Compliance Affairs of the Affiliate. Besides you will ensure full Business Ethics Compliance by developing processes and programmes for effective monitoring, conduct internal controls and data protection requirements. Your assigned responsibilities related to position requires travel and flexible working hours as the activities are executed in accordance with the stakeholders’/company’s’ available places, times, and the timelines of meetings.

You will also be responsible for: 

  • Carrying out and continually assessing the effective implementation of the Global and International Operations (IO) Legal strategy, identifying legal trends and other developments in the legal environment, and sharing them with the Legal, Ethic, Compliance and Quality Senior Director and relevant departments.
  • Providing fast, effective, high quality and business-oriented legal support and advising in the Affiliate for all required matters but not limited with key projects, litigation matters, disputes, and arbitrations, ensuring effective management, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and documents, as needed.
  • Providing high quality advice on Business Ethics Compliance issues and supporting the Affiliate employees by giving information and presenting trainings as necessary, analysing Business Ethics Compliance risks, and providing assessment. Also networking internally and externally to ensure an aligned and effective approach to Business Ethics Compliance within the Affiliate.
  • Drafting and reviewing investigation plans, as well as the programme for expanded Compliance monitoring activities in the Affiliate. Preparing updates on the results of investigations and monitoring activities, reporting them regularly and giving input on global or other policies related to investigation besides monitoring. Keeping track of the results of the investigation and monitoring, taking follow-up measures if necessary.
  • Maintaining and updating data mapping, risk assessment, and compliance documentation for local organization. Advising organization on issues related to data protection requirements implementation in a Novo Nordisk context, sparring with local legal as needed and also ensuring that any local requirements are implemented and adapted in global templates to be used locally

The qualifications

You have a minimum bachelor’s degree in Law from high-ranked law school. You are a member of the applicable legal bar/law society with 5+ years of legal/compliance experience and have excellent command over both written and spoken English and Turkish. Having a LL.M degree or equivalent or pharmaceuticals regulation, business transactions in the industry and Business Ethics and Compliance in pharmaceutical or medical device experiences will be a plus. Further sought-after skills are;

  • You have extensive knowledge and experience of employment law, corporate and commercial law, administrative law, litigation and dispute resolution, data protection.
  • You have strong communication and stakeholder management abilities and making things happen mindset by focusing on what matters
  • You have an excellent business and industry understanding
  • You are good at conducting risk analysis, assessment, and action
  • You have an on-the-job experience in tier-one law firm or corporate environment.

About the Department

Legal, Compliance and Quality department is responsible for supporting Turkiye Affiliate of Novo Nordisk in all legal, ethics compliance and quality issues and ensuring the implementation of the global and local policies and requirements in Turkiye.
