Position Description

Project Manager – Military Training Summary/Definition:

  • The Project Manager oversees and manages projects, and is responsible for planning, monitoring projects.
  • The PM is responsible for co-ordination and completion of the projects and will perform a variety of tasks including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring, and summarizing progress of the projects, setting, and following budgets, making HR decisions, and other project management-related tasks.
  • The PM will be based in West Africa with travel to various remote training sites throughout the region. 

Location: Benin, West Africa

Position Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing military training programs (NCO and/or officer training) in geographically diverse post conflict locations. Programs should exceed $5 million or more per project. Managing projects” shall be defined as the candidate serving as the senior-most in-country management official at the project level.
  • The PM shall also demonstrate at least 1+ years direct experience conducting work professionally in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as highlight experiences operating in areas with limited life cycle support and under hardship conditions.
  • Candidate should have curriculum development experience.
  • Must have the ability to analyze complex financial data and extract and define relevant information.
  • Must have excellent supervisory, organizational, and training skills, skill in project development and execution, skill in coordinating activities, evaluating data, and establishing priorities.
  • Excellent communication in both written and verbal English is necessary, and must be proficient in Word, MS Office suite of programs.
  • Must be able to analyze problems and make well-reasoned, sound decisions.
  • Must be highly capable of interacting confidently with senior management and customers.
  • Candidate should have management experience with and a demonstrated history of managing direct reports within a large organization.
