The Judith Sulzberger Genome Center within the Department of Systems Biology is involved with all aspects of next generation sequencing for a wide range of research projects, and is equipped with state-of-the-art high-throughput instruments. The Single Cell Analysis Core provides single-cell RNA-sequencing services and ATAC-sequencing using the 10x Genomics Chromium platform. We have extensive collaborations with investigators at Columbia University and across the country and abroad, including in personal medicine and cancer genomics. Members of the lab have ample opportunities to be involved in the development of novel techniques in library preparation and sequencing.

Responsibilites include but are not limited to the following: 

  • 40%: Carrying out sophisticated and cutting-edge experiments for the Single Cell Core, including but not limited to sample processing, experimental design, and planning. Provide expert technical guidance to postdoctoral researchers, and faculty.
  • 40%: Carrying out sophisticated experiments for the NextGen Core, including but not limited to sample processing, experimental design, and planning.
  • 10%: Managing NextSeq user base, inventory, and training of new users.
  • 10%: Attending the laboratory needs for nextgen and single-cell cores: lab management, ordering, inventory management, financial management, IT coordination, equipment repair and maintenance, compliance, updating and maintaining research protocols, training updates, certifications.

Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry or related field. 

2-4 years of related work experience preferred.
