Facebook seeks a highly-motivated, detail-oriented team player to serve as Lead Counsel to support Facebook’s premium video and production initiatives. You will be drafting and negotiating a wide variety of contracts related to the development, production, distribution and acquisition of premium video content on behalf of the business and deal teams supporting Facebook’s premium video content efforts. In addition, you will advise clients on various legal risks, regulatory compliance and other issues related to the production of original video content. Diligent and proactive, you have demonstrated excellent legal and business judgment and strategic thinking, along with the ability to work independently.
This is a full-time position located in our Los Angeles office, but domestic and international travel may be required.
Structure, draft and negotiate agreements for scripted and unscripted audiovisual programming, including production services agreements, content license agreements and above-the-line talent agreements (e.g., on-camera talent, executive producer, writer, and director agreements)
Provide day-to-day legal services in connection with the production of audiovisual content, including providing general legal advice in connection with production risk, negotiating standard production forms and releases, conducting pre-broadcast review in connection with scripts, treatments and video content, and providing rights and clearance guidance
J.D. degree and membership in at least one state bar
5+ years of transactional legal experience at a global law firm and/or in-house at a network, studio, production company, internet or technology company, with at least 4 years focused on a transactional television or premium new media entertainment practice
Experience working with entertainment guilds (e.g., SAG-AFTRA, DGA, WGA, IATSE)
Experience working cross-functionally with other business units and legal department members
Experience providing counseling to internet companies with video products and services offered to consumers
Experience with social networking and platform integrations
International legal experience
