What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a Mechanical Technician to support the construction, commissioning, and operation of utilities and process systems at the new Semi-Factory in Sparks, NV. In this role, you will test, troubleshoot, and operate newly installed equipment, utilities, chemical delivery processes, and HVAC systems to support vehicle manufacturing. You will also be part of a 24/7 Facilities and Operations team, ensuring the operational availability of manufacturing equipment, including mechanical and electrical systems, factory automation, and robotics. Collaborating with process and equipment engineering teams, you will work to improve reliability and minimize downtime.

What You’ll Do

  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain various facilities equipment, including pumps, boilers, fans, cranes, compressors, HVAC, and dock equipment
  • Operate equipment using control software, troubleshoot deviations, and utilize control systems to monitor and verify trends
  • Support new equipment installation, startup, and routine operator rounds while collaborating with teammates and engineers
  • Assist in commissioning new equipment, drafting operating procedures, and preparing pre-task plans
  • Perform safe rigging procedures, troubleshoot facilities infrastructure, and enforce code compliance across multiple sites
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, generate failure reports, and implement corrective measures to improve operational efficiency
  • Maintain positive teamwork, interact with customers, and be proficient in office programs and equipment monitoring systems

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience with industrial equipment, distribution, and infrastructure
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to detail and the ability to multitask and adapt to change
  • Experience in designing HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection, and industrial systems like cooling water and air generation/distribution
  • Professional design experience with various project types, including office systems, ventilation, and general production/building systems
  • Knowledge of writing sequences of operation for initial startups and enforcing safety rules and regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, writing SOPs, Pre-Task Plans, Work Requests, and drafting training materials
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, perform physical tasks, and contribute to operations outside normal skill set with safety-conscious practices
