As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Public Cloud Enablement & Adoption group, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications. This is an opportunity to be a member of our highly strategic graph database space, a key growth area over the coming years as the demand grows around leveraging AI/ML capabilities. Our group is responsible for building centralized platform & database services across public cloud and hybrid cloud (on-prem & public cloud).

Job responsibilities

  • Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
  • Understands the importance of great documentation and a passion for helping customers
  • Thinks critically with strong problem-solving skills and clear communication
  • Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced in Python and one other programming language - Java, C, C++, C#, Go 
  • Extensive Experience of Python frameworks - Django/Flask etc.
  • Practical experience of architecting & developing applications or platforms on any one of the major public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google). Industry cloud certifications are a bonus
  • Experience with NoSQL database products
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience – Terraform, Ansible, Puppet and/or Salt
  • Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Understanding and experience of Agile and Lean philosophies including experience with JIRA, YouTrack and/or similar
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
  • Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Graph based databases
  • Unit-testing framework(s) & BDD/TDD
  • Domain Drive Design (DDD)
  • Experience with relational databases
  • CI/CD pipelines preferably including Jenkins, Bamboo and/or Spinnaker
  • Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (including IBM WebSphere) and/or Heroku
  • Experience with core services including Active Directory, Kerberos and DNS
