We are seeking an innovative Senior Motion Designer with a passion for pushing creative boundaries to join the CNET design team. In this role, you will be in charge of the creative and technical aspects of CNET's motion systems and templates. You will collaborate closely with the Creative Director, Designers, and Video Producers to develop visual concepts and oversee their implementation across the brand. The role will also include mentoring and developing more junior designers on the team.

  • Our ideal candidate will work in the office in a hybrid role; office locations include New York, Charlotte. We are open to remote candidates as well. 

What You’ll do:

  • Design, develop, and build content that supports and strengthens the CNET brand through design, illustration, and animation.
  • Develop graphics packages around video franchises including logos, show opens, lower thirds, and set design.
  • Take the initiative to improve our video, social, and on-site graphics.
  • Develop and improve existing guidelines, systems, and processes to ensure quality and consistency across platforms.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product designers, video and social producers, and the editorial team, to ensure cohesive and integrated designs
  • Provide and solicit feedback from peers and stakeholders to continually improve quality
  • Stay current on the latest industry trends and technical advancements in animation and motion design.

What You’ll Need:

  • 5+ years of experience in 3D and motion graphics
  • Up-to-date demo reel or online portfolio that showcases a strong understanding of current design trends
  • Be a MOGRT expert capable of creating custom features-rich, optimized, and easy-to-use MOGRTs.
  • The ability to effectively communicate concepts, present storyboards and convey design rationale.
  • The ability to work independently, iterate quickly, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Be an expert in industry-standard software, including After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere
  • Have a solid understanding of how to develop brand systems that extend beyond individual projects.
  • Have an excellent eye for design, color, composition, and typography
  • Basic modeling, mograph, render engines, animation, lighting, texturing 
  • Be able to carry projects from concept to completion
  • Experience with managing, mentoring, and leading junior designers a plus. 

Compensation

  • Cash Compensation Range: $85,000-125,000*
  • Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
