Job Purpose

About the Role:

This is an important role within the Financial Crimes development group within Fiserv, the global leader in information management and e-commerce systems for the financial services industry.  Serving over 1,000 customers across the world, including some of the largest financial institutions and banks, this group is responsible for developing and delivering enterprise strength software for the detection and prevention of fraud and money laundering.

The Associate Frontend Developer is highly motivated to build a career around the development of high quality enterprise software products.  The primary function of the Associate Frontend Developer is to perform defined tasks including the design, estimation, implementation and testing of software that meets the defined functional and non-functional requirements.  The Associate Frontend Developer operates as a member of a cross functional scrum team, reports to the software development manager, and works closely with the development lead.

Essential Job Responsibilities:  

Participate in detailed design sessions as part of elaboration and sprint planning, including provision of documentation to capture design as necessary

Contribute to the development of accurate effort estimates required for implementation of design alternatives

Develop and unit test quality-driven code that meets functional and non-functional requirements, and which is delivered within expected timescales

Assure quality of the delivered software within the build process, primarily through development of automated integration and system tests, with further manual and exploratory testing as needed

Contribute to technical innovation within the product

Fix project and production defects within agreed timescales

Participate in code reviews

Work with development leads and other senior leaders to devise and implement continuous improvements in development practices

Observe and adhere to existing processes and procedures of the software development group

Required Qualifications:

  • Experienced at .NET development in C#
  • Experienced at enterprise software architecture with knowledge of the Microsoft platform including IIS and the .NET Framework 4.x
  • Experienced at working in continuous build and integration environments
  • Experienced with development best practices including code reviews, refactoring, unit testing, source control, continuous integration, automated testing, stakeholder demonstrations etc
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and OOAD design skills
  • Experience of agile and iterative development
  • Experience of automated functional and system test frameworks
  • Experience with Test and Behaviour Driven Development practices
  • Working knowledge of web service development
  • Working knowledge of XML, XSLT and XSD
  • Working knowledge of MSSQL Server, including SQL DML, T-SQL and DDL
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft IIS
  • Working knowledge of Silverlight

BSc Hons degree or equivalent in a technical or engineering discipline
