Student Health Center

Salary Range: $52.49 - $102.18/Hourly (Budgeted Hiring Salary Range $85.00 - $90.00/Hourly)

Work Schedule: Part-Time, 14 to 18 hours/week, days, and hours TBD.; exempt classification. Temporary position ends on or before June 30, 2024; may be extended.

Essential Functions: The services provided by the Student Health Center (SHC) include but are not limited to primary medical care, counseling and psychological services, wellness education and support, and select specialized health services. All professional staff and faculty who work in the Student Health Center are expected to facilitate the services we provide, relevant to their specific position. The dentist performs direct patient dental care: interviewing patients and advising patients on preventative dental care; dental examinations; ordering and interpreting x-rays; dental cleaning and scaling of patients; and uncomplicated dental procedures not requiring general anesthesia. The dentist will: consult with dental resources beyond the SHC in securing treatment for students requiring services beyond those available at the SHC; document according to the problem oriented medical record format; record and complete case histories and reports as necessary; stress health education and preventive medicine in contact with students; participate in health education programs and assist in development of health education materials compatible with the needs of the clinic and students; support and actively participate in the Center’s Quality Improvement activities; and adhere to the SHC policy on patient’s confidentiality and medical record security;

Required Qualifications & Experience: Graduation from a school or training program recognized by the relevant State of California licensing agency or board. Completion of one or more accredited Dentistry training programs in the specialty appropriate to the assigned duties. Valid California Dental License. Active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration and license for prescribing controlled substances. Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification. Thorough knowledge of and the ability to effectively and efficiently apply the principles and methods essential to the provision of dental services, and in the diagnosis and treatment of common dental disorders, knowledge of community resources in dental treatment and public health practices; knowledge of local, state, and national laws and regulations pertaining to the specialty; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of medical practitioners and specialists, as well as students, administrators, staff and faculty. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.
