This is a multi-level posting. Candidates may be considered for any of the posted levels, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)

Working independently under minimal supervision, the software engineer provides advanced technical expertise and guidance in the support, architecture, design, programming, testing, documentation and implementation of business intelligence and data analytic systems. Responsible for the support and development of complex reports and dashboards, intuitive data models, migrations into different environments, maintenance and monitoring of the Enterprise Reporting solutions in Oracle Analytics cloud and on-premise instances. Evaluates reporting needs, provides recommendations to management and business clients, and identifies best technology solutions. The software engineer will conduct special studies and analyses, develop alternatives, present recommendations to management and influence management decisions. The purpose of the role is to research, analyze, develop, implement new, and support existing reporting and/or data visualization processes in response to changing internal and external conditions.

Typical Duties

Act as the technical lead for complex projects related to the development of new business analytical solutions, testing and implementing business intelligence reporting systems in Oracle.

Analytics environments, developing data mapping components, assisting with ETL strategy, data staging, moving and aggregation, ensuring best practices in analytics solutions delivery, and data quality strategy.

Oversee software development and ensure conformance to performance optimization and interoperability standards and requirements.

Ensure adherence to secure development lifecycle practices and policies.

Perform project planning, system analysis, software design and coding, testing, documentation, implementation and research activities as necessary for software engineering projects.

Act as the subject matter expert and consults with clients on company's IT strategy and business requirements.

Collaborate with IT teams from applications and infrastructure to identify technology deficiencies and improvement opportunities in practices and procedures.

Provide guidance and direction to team members as necessary in the completion of assigned projects.

Participate in on-call rotation, including after hour and weekend support.

Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in management information systems (MIS), computer science or related technical field or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

Eighteen months of work and/or intern experience in business software application development required for the software engineer I level. 

A minimum of four years of experience in business software application design, development, integration and/or installation is required for the software engineer II level.

A minimum of six years of experience in business software application design, development, integration and/or installation is required for the software engineer III level.

Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle Analytics Server (OBIEE) platform components.

Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle data modeling tools (OAS/OBIEE/OAC/OTBI/BI Publisher) and advanced report development skills.

Ability to maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory completion of responsibilities; enhance job knowledge and abilities by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training.

Experience in the industry, or in an environment whose scope, size and complexity are comparable.

Effective project management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. 

Business analysis aptitude including communications and interpersonal skills enabling an understanding of client's needs.

Knowledge of information technology terms, equipment, systems, functions and major vendors.

Effective oral and written communication skills. 

Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work with all organizational levels to influence actions and negotiate outcomes.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Availability for periodic on-call responsibilities.

Technical knowledge with hands-on experience in Oracle and Microsoft SQL database development.
