Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Negotiate, manage, coordinate, and support Logistics sourcing activities for all modes of Freight (Air, Ocean, Trucking & Parcel) including warehousing and brokerage preparing RFx, managing the process and analyzing competitive bids using eSourcing tool.
  • Analyze spend data, internal requirements, and external supply markets to develop strategic sourcing strategies and plans aligned with the business goals.
  • Prepare, redline and negotiate commercial contracts - services agreements, licenses, statements of work and amendments in conjunciton with legal team
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with internal clients to strategically manage spend and the supply base for assigned categories.
  • Develop strong partnerships with Logistics operations, accounts payable, and legal teams.
  • Manage, co-ordinate and support special/critical projects such as ad hoc and spot rate approval process and others as needed.
  • The commodity manager will need to provide excellent strategic sourcing support to the reporting manager and business partners to ensure a competitive advantage for Western Digital.
  • Will drive improvements in key metrics such as cost, quality and transit time.
  • The CM will drive process-improvements, assist with projects and provide feedback to management on market conditions, supplier relationships, and quality and customer service issues.
  • Ensure timely and cost effective acquisition of products, services and equipment while driving contract compliance.
  • Completing day-to-day activities that include specification clarification, source/supplier identification, proposal analysis, review & clarification, contract knowledge, supplier performance management, supplier/customer conflict resolution.
  • Provide feedback to management on market conditions, vendor relationships, supply and equipment standardization, quality issues.
  • Assist with projects and perform other related duties that may become necessary as directed by management.
  • Manage Supplier relationship management including -
  • Supplier solicitation, selection and qualification process
  • Quarterly/bi-annual business reviews and scorecards

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, Master's degree a plus
  • Preferred 5+ years of strategic sourcing experience in the Logistics space (Warehouse services & Transportation) and eSourcing tool experience

PREFERRED:

  • Demonstrated skills in negotiating and formulating contracts for services procurement, understanding of outsourcing models and cost associated with them, total cost models, should cost model, service rate benchmarking and contractual negotiation
  • Highly developed negotiation skills and knowledge of contract
  • Ability to work well in a high-pace dynamic environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and ensure task completion and deadlines are met as required

SKILLS:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word & Powerpoint
  • The ideal individual must have proven ability to achieve results in a fast moving, dynamic environment
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, however, must have demonstrated ability to work well with people
  • A proven desire to work as a team member, both on the same team and outside of the team
  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze complex problems
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
