This position (#50384788) is located in the Office of Management & Finance - IT Division in East Baton Rouge Parish.

The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry is looking for an energetic person with good computer and people skills who enjoys helping others work more effectively. This position is in the Office of Management & Finance, Information Technology Department. The IT Department provides software, hardware, and network solutions to the Agency. This position provides phone and in-person support to users in the areas of e-mail, file shares, standard Windows desktop applications, and in-house software. This position also provides installation and support of various hardware solutions including networking, printing, cabling, and telephones. Supervision is provided by an experienced IT Supervisor who loves to develop new talent.

This position may be filled by probational appointment or promotion of a classified Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry employee serving with permanent status. Applicants who are not permanent employees of Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry will be required to serve a 24 month probationary period.

The annual starting salary for an IT Technical Support Analyst 1 is $46,738.

The annual starting salary for an IT Technical Support Analyst 2 is $50,003.

The annual starting salary for an IT Technical Support Analyst 3 is $53,498.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

A baccalaureate degree plus one year of experience in information technology.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

1. An associate’s degree in information technology will substitute for the baccalaureate degree.

2. Two years of experience or training in information technology will substitute for the baccalaureate degree. Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine experience or training in information technology and college credit to substitute for the required baccalaureate degree as follows:

30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for six months of experience or training in information technology towards the baccalaureate degree.

60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience or training in information technology towards the baccalaureate degree.

90 or more semester hours credit will substitute for one year and six months of experience or training in information technology towards the 

baccalaureate degree.

A maximum of 90 semester hours may be combined with experience or training in information technology to substitute for the baccalaureate 

degree.

3. Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree. Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience in any field and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:

30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.

4. A baccalaureate degree with twenty-four semester hours in computer science, management information systems (MIS), quantitative business analysis--computer science, electrical engineering, information systems and decision sciences, computer engineering, mathematics, telecommunications, or computer information systems will substitute for up to one year of required experience.

5. A master's degree will substitute for up to one year of the required experience.

NOTE: 

Multiple specialized degrees and/or master's degrees will substitute for a maximum of one year of required experience.

NOTE: 

A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Differs from IT Technical Support Analyst 2 by the absence of experienced-level tasks relative to technical support activities that are outside of the scope of the Office of Technology Services.

Examples of Work

This position is located in the Office of Management & Finance, Information Technology Division within the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry. The Information Technology Division provides management to the computing systems for each of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry's location and supports all uses on more than 100 custom and third-part software applications. Supervision for this position is received from the IT Technical Support Supervisor.

40% Responsible for installation, maintenance and administration of hardware/software that has department-wide impact in the areas of systems software/hardware, database software, and network software/hardware for system support. Consult and advise on particular areas of software hardware interfacing with vendors in problem resolution and optimization; assisting in evaluation and recommendation of software and/or hardware.

10% Advise and assist employees with hardware, software, network or training issues.

10% Directs the installation, service, and performance analysis of telecommunications equipment on the network.

10% Designs and implements a communication system connecting the various components of the enterprise network.

10% Establishes and manages configuration data on network software and hardware components.

10% Develops strategy and recommends and documents standards and procedures for enterprise and local area network participation and functions.

10% Writes and assists in writing invitations and specifications for bids. Suggests the procurement of hardware, telecommunications equipment, software and related maintenance and support services.

Other duties as may be assigned.
