The Role

As a Data Services Team (DST) Software Developer you will support our outsourcing business by serving as the technical link between external clients and vendors, and our internal team of business analysts through the following focuses:

  • Client/system implementations and ongoing support relative to technical aspects ensuring file transfers between all parties are running, loading, and transferring according to specified requirements.

  • Consult and provide technical support and issue resolution.

  • Helping support Data Services Teams needs through technical and analytical means, product and process enhancements, technical initiatives, standards and best practices.
    Open positions in the following cities: Dalls, TX or MT Laurel, NJ or Chicago, IL or Boston, MA

    Note that this role will involve some limited travel to client sites and other Willis Towers Watson offices.


    • Systems programming using Visual Studio, C#, MS SQL Server.  Other relative technologies a plus.
    • Develop code per detailed specifications using specified programming languages, tools, and techniques under the direction of the technical manager for Data Services.
    • Document system behaviour via code analysis.
    • Deliver timely unit-tested high quality systems that meet specification functionality requirements.
    • Work with team to define detailed specifications for specific functionality requirements.
    • Provide analysis for technical solutions based on functional requirements.
    • Assist in determining requirements for estimating budgets and timelines.
    • Provide consultative services on technical issues to projects, solutions and team members.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues.
    • Provide code reviews and guidance to other team Developers
    • Keep abreast of latest developments regarding effective procedures, methods, and tools in software development and testing.
    • Work as a team to produce and deliver high quality results.
    • Deliver on projects in accordance with project plans including budget, timeline, deliverables and quality standards.
    • Directly contribute to clients’ success through applying your technical expertise.

Job Requirements

The Requirements

  • 2 - 5 years development experience in MS SQL Server / Transact-SQL, Microsoft .Net, C#. 

  • Preferred experience in Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, JavaScript and jQuery.

  • Relevant client-server development experience.

  • Degree (Associates or Bachelors) in computer science, management information systems or related area, or applicable/relative work experience.

  • Ability to complete Willis Towers Watson training program.

  • Background in benefits administration a plus.

  • Ability to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously; strong time management skills.

  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment that has tight deadlines.

  • Ability to learn and evaluate new tools, concepts, and challenges quickly.

  • Client service focus and flexibility in supporting client requests.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

  • Be available, at times, to work extended work hours.
